In the late 70's and early eighties there was a craze called Streaking, it involved the stripping off of clothes and running through a public or crowded place shouting at the top of your voice something totally inaudible and giggling inanely.

The streak of good or bad luck can apply to the games or to the actual dice rolls, in much the same way that a good hand in blackjack or poker can be recurring, one good hand follows another until its conclusion, whether to stay or leave. Invariably, if you stay your luck changes and your streak ends. Somehow fate works out that you can't be lucky all the time, every time.

In backgammon, when playing against the computer online streaks seem to be more apparent, and occur at more regular intervals than say offline games.

Why is this mystery several ideas are put forward from the ratings in your matches, to the rolls of the dice, or maybe it's because people just need an excuse for losing.

What can you do to stop that losing feeling, a couple of options is to in the first instance give up and walk away, not great and bad for morale, the second option is to play through your bad luck and wait for your luck to change it will eventually.

This method of playing through boosts your confidence factor and you begin to see the bigger picture, but if you're playing for money think carefully, if you are losing particularly big time, take option one and walk away and try another day, otherwise it could be more than your shirt you lose you never know you might end up having to streak home? Wouldn't that be awful.
