Internet Gaming Laws - Here we go again !

The UIGEA specifically legislates for 'games, subject to chance' and makes no attempt to carve-out or exclude skill-based contests or skill-based competition gaming.

Is the Game Account decision purely a commercial one because its original source of revenue has dried up from its well of poker players? It has sought legal opinion on its decision, which has opted for pulling out of skill gaming. Game account states that skill gaming is a gray area, as far as the new law is concerned, which is true, but without mention of any skill gaming being affected by the law specifically, why pull out?

Backgammon has been talked about in the gaming circles as the new poker; it has certainly seen its star rise rapidly in recent months and increase in recent weeks with a whole new batch of sites opening to offer redundant poker players a new table to play at.

In conjunction with this, are the new TV slots on Eurosport, which is taking backgammon into the homes of the masses, in the same way poker did.

What should be fully understood is that this decision is only applicable in the US ; Europe is set to profit from this and with more expedient legislation being propelled through UK government to adopt gaming online to make the UK the new US.

In putting doubt into the minds of gamers by pulling out, has Game Account opened a can of worms which is set to wriggle and ingest itself into the psyche of all online game operators and players who thought they had found the solution to the question, What is a skill game?
