im 17, just passed my test and im looking to buy a car. I've got my eye on a nissan micra i saw in an ad. It's £500, 1litre engine and done 49,000 miles. It's an Mreg though, meaning its from 94/95. Is that too old? my mates also passing have got much better ranging from a 1.4L rover to a 2.0L land rover (and we're all 17). Is it just a crappy car to have? is it worth the price? and is it a safe bet?
I would find something better for your money, £500 is lot of money to pay for this age and type of car.
They rust at the cross member and both sills inner and outer, the mass air flow sensors fail and the sensor alone can cost £400, So in a nut shell I would advise looking elsewhere.
I have a M reg Nissan Micra 1.3 LX, I use it for local run around. Its a good car I must say, very reliable and has never let me down. I think you should go for it. Use it for a year and so and then buy a higher specification car. But 500 is a good price for an M reg Micra only if it has at least 4 months tax and MOT on it.
