yes, I just came back from one and am a very strong christian, just set your limit and stick to it, just like anything else, don't let it control you and how about the oil companies profiting off of people
Casino offer recreational gaming. We do not profit from people's misery. We profit from customer's having a good time.
When you play in a casino you decide how much you are willing to spend. Some people spend their money playing golf. Others like to rent a boat. Our customers spend their money to have a good time playing casino games.
Many Christians work in casinos and have no trouble with moral dilemmas because of it. Other people of other religions also work in casinos without moral issues.
I invite you to come to Las Vegas and have a look around. You will see that my customers are here to play, not to gamble. THey are having a good time. They are not miserable. My customers know the price they are paying for the play they are getting and accept that price, just as they would for the price of any other recreation or entertainment.
That's your opinion and you're entitled to it. BUT should Christians be allowed to work at stores that sell cigarettes or alcohol...what about McDonalds? There are a lot of products that are not healthy for people's bodies or minds, but it is only a problem if they are abused by the user. It is the same thing with gambling. You may believe that gambling is a sin, so for you it is. Just be cautious in casting the same judgment upon others. Remember that God looks upon the heart and not upon actions alone. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that gambling is a sin...nowhere!
You are approaching this idea from a completely biased point of view.
Not everyone who visits a casino loses, and not everyone suffers 'so much loss.' There are a tiny handful of people who become addicted to gambling, and they do hurt their families. But there are millions of people who play in casinos and just have some fun.
If casinos were banned it would put something like a million people out of work. There are thousands upon thousands of people who work in casinos and related occupations (for example restaurant workers who work in casinos, or supply companies that supply casinos etc.).
I'm pretty sure that putting a million people out of work would cause a lot more misery than a handful of degenerate gamblers.
But by your logic Christians should not work for a company that sells alcohol. Or glue (glue sniffing). Or cough medicine (some people take this to get high). Or prescription drugs (drug abuse). Or cars (people get killed in car wrecks every day). Or DVD players (people buy pornography).
How about hotel workers? Hotels are routinely used by people cheating on their spouses (or watching porn in the room).
What about the Sabbath? Christians routinely work for companies that open on a Sunday. The Bible is pretty explicit about putting people who work on the Sabbath to death.
How about sea food? The Bible teaches that lobster, shrimp and other sea food is an abomination to God.
You know, the list is almost endless of jobs that could indirectly cause pain, suffering or sin.
But the reality is Christians routinely ignore the teachings of the Bible every day, taking jobs that perhaps they shouldn't. But I don't really see a casino as being any more or less sinful than millions of other jobs.
