Don't get me wrong I'm a Long Island girl, rooting for the Long Island Triple Crown threat Big Brown, this is actual the first year I can't make it to Belmont because of work , but it's a bit of a upset knowing Big Brown wont be going against his biggest threat.
I think his injury is minor, and I would hate to see him get hurt.
..and he WON'T set a track record. This a great horse - but far from a special horse IMO. He ran a 100 Beyer Speed Figure in the Preakness. Crap. He ran a 109 in the Derby equalling his best BSF. Decent - but not on par with many Derby winners.
This is a huge disappointment.
Casino Drive would have given him a run. I was actually hoping to see Better than Honor get her 3rd consecutive Belmont winner more than I was hoping to see a TC winner. This sucks big time.
I almost hope his hoof cracks and he can't finish.
This is by far the easiest route any horse has had to the TC in decades - probably ever.
These majestic athletes are not turn-key machines, which I sometimes think even people who should know better get caught up in believing, to some degree. The fragility is oftentimes shown before the runner gets from the backside to the track, as in this case.
