I had heard that the Hooters Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas was closing in May of 2008. I heard that they were being taken over by someone else with a name change and total renovation, but as of June 5th, they were still taking reservations. I am going to Las Vegas in late Sept and I want to know if they will still be in business,. Does anybody know what the latest news is. Thanks.
This usually takes awhile. They have to get approval for the change of ownership. Most places stay open during this kind of change and as long as they plan to stay open you will be fine in making reservations. Usually the first thing to go is the Hooters theme so if that is what you are wanting you may be disappointed. The reasons it didn't make it is Hooters does good in places that are not like Vegas. They are different and provide the excitement in other cities across the country. Here they are just another casino. Heck ... all the casinos here have good looking coctail waitresses and they are not unique. They couldn't compete with the Hard Rock or the Palms for that type of crowd.
While Hooters has been for sale, with the tight credit market, the pending sale is likely to not go through. Last time I was at Hooters was over a year ago, they were rumored to be closing then, so I bought a lot of things in their gift shop, hoping to cash in when they closed. Hooters is still there, and I still have a cupboard full of Hooters cups.
