I play poker online and I wanted to get started in live games. I was wondering if someone could tell me about their POKER experiences in either Casino Niagara or Fallsview. How are the games? skill level? Also what are the buy-ins for popular games such as 1/2 NL and 2/4 PL ? I'm not much of a high roller so those two are the most likely ones I will play.

Also what is the overall atmosphere of the casinos? Which is better in your opinion in terms of their poker room?

I was in Fallsview last fall on a busy Saturday night. I was looking to jump into a low stakes NLHE game, but I was surprised to see the lowest was $5/5! I'm not sure about Casino Niagara but I'm guessing it's the same. You might be better off playing at the Seneca Allegany Casino in Salamanca, NY or the Seneca Niagara Casino in Buffalo. Salamanca's got a great poker room, especially if you go on the weekends.

Here's the info you need.

If you aren't a high roller you're going to want to roll over to Casino Niagara. Don't worry...it's still a nice casino with some good poker games. They just cater more towards the lower limits. They have your regular 1/2 and 2/4 games. And some higher limits and certain parts of the day.

Fallsview is geared more towards the higher roller. They have the 5/5 game they are known for some other higher limit games.

Both casinos are owned by the same company and both are very nice. Fallsview is newer and more upscale.

I always found the competition at Casino Niagara to be pretty weak. Tables were always filled with guys who think and act like they know how to play poker because they watch the WSOP on ESPN. But most of them don't have a clue, especially when you put them in a cash game setting.

The max at Casino Niagara in a 1/2 game is $200...I think. Maybe it's $300, I can't remember. The minimum is $40 or $50 but to be honest you always want to sit with the max and a little in your pocket to re-load.

You don't want to flop 4 of a kind and only have $60 behind it to double or triple up with.

Both poker rooms are nice, although you don't really gget the same atmosphere there that you would in Atlantic City or Vegas. Casino Niagara's room is kind of small but the atmosphere is loose and the people who work there are very nice. Must be a Canadian thing.

Fallsview is the same way, although the poker room is a little nicer.

Don't forget that you also have Seneca Niagara over on the American side. Decent poker room over there too. Has a dark, backroom feel to it. Which, if you're like me, you'll like. although I know some people who hate it.

I used to live up around Cleveland and made lots of trips to Niagara, Windsor, Salamenca(NY), Inidana, Atlantic City, etc to play poker. I know most of the rooms pretty well. Casino Niagara is nice. It's a great place to start.

Like I said, competition is weak - if you're a good player you can make some bucks up there.
