I heard some people playing this at the A's game where they were passing around a cup for each batter and putting money in as their batter struck out or grounded out. What's this game called and how do you play?

i think its ages 10-14 and its called "hit pitch and run" you have to join a local competition and if you win then you go to your local major league teams field to try and win it all. you can normally join a local competition by going to your local little league. just ask them.

There are probably a million different variations to this game, so feel free to adapt it to your own. Heres one way.
Everyone brings about a bajillion quarters to a game (could be $1, $5 bills whatever). Before every at bat, you call whats going to happen, and everyone puts the ante into the cup. Categories can be (K-looking, K-Swinging, Sac Fly, Sac Bunt, 1B, 2B, 3B, Error, HR, Ground Rule 2B, Ground Out, Pop Out, Foul Pop Out, Missed 3rd Strike thrown out at 1st, GIDP, Infield Fly...ect. I think you get the point.) Who ever gets it right, gets the cup of cash. In the case of a tie, the contents are split. In the case that no one gets it, which can happen a lot, all cash carries over to the next at-bat. Before that at-bat, ante up and start over.

There are also variations, with Stolen Bases, where the ball is hit, Runs scored in an inning, ect.

Hope this helps some.

I play it where everybody antes up a dollar. First gets the cup, if the batter makes an out he adds a quarter, double play is 50 cents, a hit or walk is nothing. He then passes the cup to the next person. Once anybody hits a home run they win what's in the cup and everybody reantes another dollar. Whoever has the cup when the last batter of the game bats gets what's left.

No! I don't know how this baseball gambling "game" works!
Nor, do I give a rats behind.
But, don't you just love it!!
Pete Rose gets drummed out of baseball for gambling and
here we are discussing gambling questions on Yahoo Baseball Answers.
Am I crazy?
Or, am I the only one who questions such silliness or possibly illegal behavior?
